Sailing Club is situated at
At all
times it is essential to respect other users of the club and marina. .
To make a booking enquiry for use of the facilities contact Pwllheli
Sailing Club on 01758 613343 or e-mail training@pwllhelisailingclub.co.uk or download the booking form.
The Sailing
Club charges a flat rate fee per head for the use of the club rooms, event
compound and changing rooms. The current charge is £5.00 per sailor/coach per
day.
PSC has two
small rooms available for training use, but it is a condition that no wet
clothing is allowed in these. The only
wet facility at lunch times or other times is the Plas Menai room, unless the
small marquee adjoining the Bar is available (April-October only).
Access to
the club changing rooms/showers is by keypad security lock - code 1234.
Under no
circumstances is access permitted to the marina’s toilet/shower blocks, which
are restricted to private berth holder use only.
If you need
a larger and flexible ‘wet’ facility for briefing/debriefing sailors or for
on-shore training then you need to book the Plas Menai room. This is located at
the south end of the marina building and is suitable for larger groups. The
charge for use of the Plas Menai room is £50.00 per day.
The Plas
Menai room is heated and there are drink making facilities. There are several whiteboards in the room,
but bring your own pens.
It is
essential that you clean up the kitchen area after use and vacuum/brush the
floor. Bins need to be emptied and rubbish removed to the marina waste compound
outside and to the right of the room.
No litter/debris is to be left in the area outside the Plas Menai Room.
The keys
for the Plas Menai Room are held at
You are
welcome to use the event compound, which provides secure storage for dinghies.
The compound needs to be kept tidy and provides the only access to the beach slipway.
The keys are held with the PSC office (or behind the Bar out of office hours)
and must be signed out and returned immediately
after each use – these keys should never be taken on the water. If you intend
to arrive outside these hours please phone the Club in advance.
You are
welcome to use your own coach boat at Pwllheli.
The marina office will tell you where to berth your RIB and park your
trailer, advise of any charges and provide the security gate code, which
changes regularly. Pontoon berthing
provision is normally available October – March. However, the marina’s pontoons
are fully booked April – September and during this period alternative berthing
for RIBs will be provided on the floating buoys
at the north end of the harbour.
PSC has
five RIBs which may be available for hire at a cost of £60.00 per day + fuel.
They will be launched and fully fuelled.
Drivers must be qualified to at least RYA powerboat level 2 and
undertake to use a kill cord at all times. Any damage or repairs must be
reported and boats returned with all equipment as supplied. Missing or damaged
equipment will be charged to the hirer at cost.
The slipway
is owned by the marina and its use is strictly controlled. Only authorised tractors can be used to
launch and recover any powerboats from the marina slipway. In practice that means you have to arrange
for a local tractor company to launch and recover for you - to launch or recover
your RIB contact TRR on 0870 7707607 to arrange times. The current cost is £15.00 per launch and
recovery. This is paid direct to the operating company unless otherwise agreed
in advance.
Safety is
essential while you are afloat. You are
reminded that you are responsible for your own safety decisions whilst afloat.
The marina operates on channel 80 and the Harbourmaster on channels 12 and 16,
so it is possible to relay safety information. The ambulance collection point
is next to the fuel pontoon. Arrange ambulance attendance through the marina as
they operate a well-practiced co-ordination arrangement with the local
ambulance service, to ensure maximum speed and efficiency of attendance on
site.
You must
also observe the speed limit (4 knots) in and out of the harbour, or
the Harbourmaster will caution you.
The small bay just off the beach is sheltered
at high water, but as the tide goes out it will be less sheltered. The tide goes out a long way on springs so be
warned. If launching at low water make
sure your trolleys are pulled up the beach.
It is
possible for the club to provide refreshments, breakfasts, packed lunches and
dinners, provided there is advance booking. Please contact the Sailing Club or
its caterer – Gwyn on 07815833481.
Please ask
for advice on local accommodation – B&Bs, guesthouses, hotels, camping and
caravan sites.
The
National Water Sports Centre, Plas Menai is recommended for its package of
facilities and residential accommodation. Contact the Centre on 01248 670964 or
