Below is a circular e-mail received by the Club which may be of interest to anyone who wants to cruise/ race in company to France in the summer. Further details available by following this link.

Ladies and Gents,

This may be of interest to you if you have intentions of sailing to France this summer.

The NYC sailing manager, Olivier Prouveur has proposed the attached event and would like some feedback to see if it is worth developing into a real event. It is open to all boats from all clubs.

As with any event in the very full calendar, it is difficult to avoid clashing with all other events.

It is a race / rally down to La Rochelle and a cruise back.

The main intention is to provide encouragement / back-up to those boats who are eager to travel but lack the experience to head out alone.

Regards,

Peter Ryan

Dear Dun Laoghaire to Dingle Competitor,

Following the renewed success of the ISORA series as well as tremendousparticipation in the Dun Laoghaire to Dingle Race last summer, I have been working on the concept of a new event which is designed to appeal both to the offshore racers as well as cruisers.
Le Challenge Côte Atlantique” is designed to appeal to both racers and cruisers wishing to rally the French Coast during the summer and enjoy the beautiful sailing grounds of the French North Atlantic coast as well as sample the French welcome, food, weather and “je ne sais quoi....”
The “Challenge Côte Atlantique” is a circa 3 weeks event.
The first week consist of a “dash down” to La Rochelle which participants can enter in a “racing” division or in a “rally” division.
The following 2 weeks take the shape of a more leisurely cruise in “loose” company back along the coast with 3 rendez-vous points, allowing participants to both plan their own route yet join in for some “craic” together.
Le Challenge Côte Atlantique can be entered in a “Racing Division” or a “Rally Division”
The proposed dates, routes and format are not cast iron but would broadly be as described in the attached document.
This document is designed to gage the level of interest for such an event...All comments are welcome. Please make sure to indicate your first reaction re. a potential participation (ie. not interested / 50-50 / definitely would take part)
Also, please do not hesitate to circulate it to friends / fellow skippers (members or not) if you feel they might be interested.
Regards
