BLOG FROM A VERY CONTRITE NEIL KEFFORD (it's probably good that he is 2000nm from home!!!!!!!!

Hi Andrew,

You're missing the excitement out here, bet you wish you had come now?

We had a day of everything going wrong from early yesterday until we finally, after turning the spinnaker into a sea anchor, we decided to sail white sails until this morning. The day was a little frustrating but we're still here doing OK and , right now, sailing very nicely under the heavy spinnaker. Also, we've had our daily ration of grog, two cans of beer.

Generally the ocean has been kind to us and we are enjoying good weather, the sea state is slight to moderate, the sun shines.

But, alas, we've chaffed a hole in the mainsail, not critical as it is between 1st and 2nd reef and we do not want a full main going downwind. We are carrying another main should we need it.

We have a small wager going on with Will as he seems to think he can make St Lucia with only two major visits to the heads, I think we're on a winner. Better than a National Sweep.

I guess I'm in trouble as I forgot to say happy birthday to Ju for the 23rd, Sorry, There was a lot going on but I should have remembered.

Anyway, back to sailing, we hope that we've stopped breaking things and are inspecting everything over and over. We are happy with the progress so far and want a steady mid-section and then fly it home.

Our average speeds and distance today are 152 Nm and 6.3kts on white sails.

We will be ON 18.30 - 19.30 hrs.

Thanks for all your efforts, love to all, especially Ju.
Neil.
P.S. The diet is good!

Dear All

You were dropping the kite and I was eating pork chops, roast potatoes, broccoli, carrots, crushed spuds in the skins, stuffing, gravy and a nice bottle chardonnay. Can you smell it?

Loved Neil's blog. I bet he can see the dog house from where you are!

No change to new waypoints (WPT1 20N 28W and WPT2 16N 34W).
The original WPT3 (15N 40W) is still good and puts you in the best forecast air stream. The winds to the north of WPT3 are forecast to be lighter by the time you get there.

These are the positions of D4E, Starfire and all of Class H. Yachts to the west of you, and therefore nearer to the rhumb line, will naturally have a shorter DTG. The bets are on once you all get somewhere near to your WPT3 as most yachts will elect to be this far south as the better winds will be down there if the forecast holds.

The layout of this is class, at sea, lat, long, DTG distance to go, date and time of fix.
