Ladies Race 2009 Results

This year's Ladies Race was sailed in very light wind and Vicky has provided the following report.

The Ladies race was really good fun. We got to the start line and there was only 0.7 knots of wind according to our instruments.

We managed to get into a good position at the start line, the sails were readied,... the hooter went,... and... nobody moved.

I think it took us 26 minutes to completely clear the start line and most of our progress to mark 1 was probably due to drifting in the tide especially as the wind instruments showed a drop to 0.0 knots.

We left the tack round the buoy till quite late to get a good angle in what little wind there was and that seemed to do the trick as we managed to stay in a small pocket of wind. We made very slow progress back to the number 7 buoy.

The course was then shortened so after rounding number 7 we headed to the finish and finally got there in 1:18:42 with Sunrunner completing the course at 1:32:42.

This was the first win for the crew on Mojito a Bavaria 39. Well done .

This trophy will also be presented in the Summer Ball.

Vicky and Peter on Mojito are now looking forward to the Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta and we all wish them success in their endeavours in Ireland.
